JSW Steel (up 5.69%), NMDC (up 5.36%), Hindustan Zinc (up 3.52%), Bhushan Steel (up 3.05%), Sterlite Industries (up 2.65%), Sail (up 2.61%), Jindal Steel & Power (up 2.18%), Hindalco Industries (up 2.06%), Tata Steel (up 0.85%), Coal India (up 0.74%) and Nalco (up 0.16%), edged higher. The BSE Metal index was up 2.10% at 12,124.79. It outperformed the Sensex, which was up 0.63% at 17,716.69. The BSE Metal index had outperformed the market over the past one month until 3 February 2012, gaining 20.86% compared with the Sensex's 10.45% rise.
